It’s that time of a year again. Every year FOMR pulls together a dedicated team of volunteers to prepare Malheur Refuge’s Sod House Ranch historical site for its season opening to public. Join us for this work party where we will be sprucing up the Sod House Ranch interpretive trails, reinstalling artifacts in the main ranch house, weeding whacking around buildings, cleaning out the historic buildings, and working on visitor resources (e.g., brochure racks, interpretive trail signage).
Work Party Duration: Friday (arrival and prep work), Saturday & Sunday (Wrap up and departure, half day)
If you can’t come for all three days no worries. Choose the days that work for you.
What to expect: While some work party tasks will require a medium level of physical labor, there are many needed tasks that are less physically demanding so don’t hesitate to sign-up.
Lodging: For this event Friends of Malheur is received permission for volunteers to CAMP AT the Sod House Ranch site. Dry camping in campers, vans, etc is welcomed. Pending confirmation, FOMR intends to provide volunteer lodging Free of Charge at Malheur Field Station. Lodging is dorm style with cooking facilities.
Work and Play: As with all Friends of Malheur work parties, there will be ample time for birding, photography, socializing and all around enjoying nature and what the Refuge has to offer.
