January 4 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Clouds Drift Down The Tranquil Blitzen River-Photo by Alan Nyiri

The Friends of Malheur NWR is turning 25 in 2024 and to commemorate this milestone, we are celebrating every month with a special guest speaker.

For January’s presentation, we welcome Travis Miller, Malheur NWR’s Supervisory Ecologist. His presentation will be on:

                                                             Managing Malheur’s Challenges

Travis will take us behind the scenes at Malheur NWR and discuss the management challenges they face from the wet meadows to Malheur Lake. The Refuge is 187,000 acres of diverse habitat that support over 340 species of birds and 53 species of mammals in addition to fish, reptiles and amphibians. Learn about what Travis and his team are up against and how they are approaching responsible and responsive habitat management.

Attendance is FREE

Donations are welcome. Suggested donation of $10/attendee.

Join us in person at the Harney County Community Room, 484 N Broadway, Burns, located next to the Harney County Chamber of Commerce office or sign up to attend via Zoom: https://bit.ly/3uRBvNx
