Migrate Through Malheur & Friends Social

March 28 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Spend a day exploring key Birding Hotspots around Malheur Refuge. Malheur Refuge Hotspot locations will be staffed by volunteer Docents who will be providing visitors with information about birds in the area, and cultural and natural history of the Refuge. In addition to learning more about the Refuge, visitors will have an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the important work the Friends of Malheur NWR is engaged in to support these wild spaces and the wildlife that depend on it.  Visitors are encouraged to bird the sites and share what they see!

On the day of the event Hotspot locations and information will be available at the Cranes Nest Nature Center at Refuge Headquarters. Grab a Migration Map to collect stamps from our volunteers at each Hotspot to earn 10% off purchases at the Crane’s Nest Nature Store.

In the afternoon, please join us for a FREE picnic at Malheur Field Station’s Greasewood Lounge.

We will wrap up the day with a viewing of The Harney Way and time to socialize with Friends.

If you are interested in volunteering to be a Hotspot Docent, contact Janelle Wicks at [email protected]
