Bird Walk

Join Teresa Wicks, Portland Audubon Field Biologist and Eastern Oregon Program Coordinator, for a birdy exploration of the Radar Hill OHV trail. This walk is a 3 mile hike rough or uneven terrain with steep hills.

Meet at the OHV Parking area along Hines Logging Road.

To carpool meet at 8:00 AM at the Burns Safeway. Park along the side of the building.

 

Bird Walk

Join Teresa Wicks, Portland Audubon Field Biologist and Eastern Oregon Program Coordinator, for a birdy exploration of the Crystal Crane Hot Springs. This walk is 1-2 mile loop across uneven terrain with no designated trails.

Meet at the parking area of the Hot Springs.

To carpool meet at 8:00 AM at the Burns Safeway. Park along the side of the building.

Meet at the deck of the Refuge Visitor Center.

To carpool meet at 8:00 AM at the Burns Safeway. Park along the side of the building.

Join Teresa Wicks, Portland Audubon Field Biologist and Eastern Oregon Program Coordinator, for a leisurely bird walk along the Burns/Hines Wildlife Trail. This walk is 4 miles round trip along flat, graveled surface.

Meet at the Egan Road Trailhead to the Wildlife Trail.

 

Harney County Migratory Bird Festival

The annual Harney County Migratory Bird Festival coincides with early spring migration of many birds through the Harney Basin. Highlights include a wide diversity of tours, workshops, presentations and a banquet featuring author and renownded birder, Kenn Kaufman, as the keynote speaker!

Want to volunteer? Volunteers will assist with Friends of Malheur tabling and sales are the Bird Festival Art Show & Sale. Shifts are AM or PM and 5 hrs long. The work will require standing, operating a point of sale system and interacting with festival attendees. Housing is available for volunteers able to work 2+ shifts. Sign up HERE.
